- Most sports teams don't go out of their way to help their opponents improve their game. But that's just what one Vermont school did- when the athletic director found out another school was in need of soccer equipment.
The Athletic Director at Enosburg Falls had heard some of Winooski's players needed cleats.
It's a team with a large refugee population. Of the 37 varsity and junior varsity players, 33 are from other countries.
They have brought extra talent and diversity to the high school's soccer team but some struggle to get equipment.
So Enosburg held a shoe drive to help out their opponents.
The shoes only helped an already talented and rising team. The Spartans made it to the finals this year for the first time in the program's 13 year history... beating out, along the way, the very team that helped suit them up.
Nice. Very, very nice.
A poll just released by Lake Research Partners shows that 76% of likely voters in Massachusetts, including 81% of women, support H1728--An Act Relative to Gender-Based Discrimination and Hate Crimes. These results prove what we knew all along: ending harmful discrimination against the transgender community is a Massachusetts value that state legislators need to make a priority. With only five days to go before the state legislature adjourns for the year, now is the time to take action and help us push for passage of this important bill. Right now, H1728 is being held in the Judiciary Committee, with no set date to be released for a full vote in the legislature.
Please send an email to your State Representative now urging them to contact Speaker DeLeo to make the Transgender Rights Bill a priority. Although a majority of state legislators have already voiced their own support for transgender equality, we need them to weigh in with Speaker DeLeo to help move the bill in the current legislative session.
Just CLICK HERE and we'll help you send that email to your legislators.
Thank you,
Scott D. Gortikov

Approve 71 Thank You Rally, Saturday at Westlake CenterA group of students, volunteers, and community members have organized an Approve 71 Thank You Rally in celebration of the November 3 victory for all Washington families. The event is on Saturday, November 14, from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM, at Westlake Center Park in Seattle.
Anne Levison and Josh Friedes will speak on behalf of the Approve 71 Campaign. Lt. Dan Choi will give a keynote address, followed by other respected members of the community.
The community is eager to thank fair minded Washington voters and volunteers for their outpouring of support during the unusually short six week campaign.
Hundreds of volunteers called hundreds of thousands of voters at phone banks. They organized fundraisers, sign waving visibility events, house parties and more.
Because of this dedication to equality, Washington State made history on November 3. It was the first state to ever approve an expansion of LGBT equality at the ballot.
The domestic partnership expansion bill will go into effect on December 3, 2009. Once it does, same-sex couples will have access to all the same state rights and responsibilities as married couples.
