Combined Gay News Headlines (T5T-1)

It was to be expected. After Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov refused to grant a permit for a gay pride parade, organizers insisted they would go on without it. And they did just that, smack in the middle of the press spectacle that is the Eurovision Song contest. Among those arrested: Gay Liberation Network co-founder Andy [...]
When he showed up on Ellen DeGeneres' show in March, Anderson Cooper looked 'a fool when he refused to dance his way onto the stage — as is customary on Ms. DeGeneres' show. So when he popped up on Ellen this week to talk about anti-gay bullying in schools, we thought maybe, just maybe, he'd [...]
When we talk about folks like Rush Limbaugh, Fred Phelps, and Bill O'Reilly on this site, the argument could be made that we're giving these bigots more attention — which they crave and, as such, we're just feeding the beast. We've come to accept that truth, and not just so we can rail against the [...]
My really good friend Susan, a lesbian makes the most delicious brownies and mini loaf cakes around and she’s been selling them around town and other places for awhile now. It’s been a struggle lately though since the economy took a downturn, so did her business.  She still plugs away though and has aspirations of [...]

As I reported to y'all this past week, the first article I've ever had published in a mainstream lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) publication was Frontiers IN L.A. Magazine's Transgender Blogger Covers Trial of Transgender Teen's Murderer.

How Valuable Is Your Life?Well, my first article for an alternative LGBT publication was published this week as well. The Gayzette published How Valuable Is Your Life?

This second article is similar in scope to the piece in Frontiers IN L.A. Magazine, but it's a more coarse piece for a different, edgier audience. Basically, I use "four letter language" in that piece that I usually don't use in writing at all, and don't use in my day-to-day conversations as much as I did when I was a sailor.

I'm not going to post the text in this piece, instead, if your'e interested in reading that piece, please go to the Gayzette link and read the text of my piece -- found on Page 10 of the May 2009 issue.

I'm planning on writing another piece for next month's issue, and probably writing as a regular columnist there after that. As publisher Rich DeMarah I were discussing recently, there just isn't exactly a plethora of established trans writers to choose from if one is looking for a columnist to write from the trans perspective. Frankly, having a political, trans columnis t on his team will set his publication apart -- even from other alternative LGBT publications. And, of course, I see that as a good thing.

Pam reminded me Thursday that I need to update my Pam's House Blend About Autumn page to add my media appearance on TruTV In Session, and my two LGBT media articles. Updating that webpage sounds like a project for me to tackle this weekend, for sure.

It's too bad that LGBTs in the military don't have a "fierce advocate" for change. In Karen in Kalifornia's diary, "Benefits for partners of Foreign Service officers," we learn that
Congress has inserted a provision into the State Department authorization budget that would require the State Department to confer the same benefits to same-sex partners as it does to married couples.
This was the work of Congressman Howard Berman (D-CA28), Chair of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and it is attached to the Foreign Relations Authorization Act (FY 2010 and 2011). Interestingly, this bit of business, indicating the State Department is working in the reality-based world of acknowledging and integrating LGBT families, hit my inbox last night.

The Randall-Stickneys have announced the membership of their Crumbling Coalition of Fanatical Fringe which mission is: Raise Lotsa Money off of Referendum 71.

On that list is one Stephen Pidgeon, Esq.  I guess if they're not embarrassed to glom onto the wingnutty Constitution Party, they'll accept about anyone.  Stephen Pidgeon is one, um, interesting individual.  If you:

  • enjoy paranoid tales of black vehicles stalking drama queen attorneys...
  • want to sample the latest in over-the-top evils LGBT people are being compared to...
  • delight at the thought of hearing how Mr. Pidgeon bilked disgruntled donors of $30,000 on a ridiculous "Obama ain't Amurikun" lawsuit...

    Read on!
    Freepers Smell a Drama Queen

On March 25, 2009, Stephen Pidgeon contacted World Net Daily, claiming he was being surveilled by shadowy figures.

[Pidgeon] reported there were three law enforcement vehicles parked nearby [his home], along with three black Suburban-style vehicles carrying camo uflage-wearing agents, apparently from Homeland Security.

"There's definitely observation," attorney Stephen Pidgeon told WND. "Maybe observation in anticipation of making an arrest."

Several hours after Pidgeon returned WND's call, he called again.

"We are definitely under surveillance and it's coordinated with Homeland Security," he said.

He said one of his associates had been followed from his home to the law firm's downtown office, and the associate was stopped just outside the building.

"The police officer claimed he didn't have brake lights working," Pidgeon said. "But he does."

Oooh, spooky!  The implication was that this alleged surveillance was in response to Pidgeon's filing a lawsuit claiming that Obama isn't an American.  The thing is that by this date, his crazy lawsuit had already been dismissed by the Washington State Supreme Court on January 8th.  He finally communicated this in February to his donors after this impatient January 31st post from a donor
What Happened to Pigeon and $.  We looked through the messages and have seen nothing about Mr. Pigeon and Company to whom we gave money to find documentation. Ed said last week information was coming this weekend or next; now nothing? Not even an optimistic hope?. We like picnics, but we also like some follow up. IS THIS A WASHOUT?
to shake loose from Pidgeon the pathetic truth that, despite his earlier breathless claims he was "Going to SCOTUS!",...
The plaintiffs have elected not to make an appeal to the US Supreme Court, but are considering other strategies.

We have pursued our investigation, and have incurred over $30,000 in billing doing so. A complete dossier will be available as soon as we complete the remaining legs of our investigation.

Anyone besides me smell a stalling tactic with the donors by claiming DHS is on him?  I hope no one is holding their breath waiting for that dossier to ever appear.  But the real hilarity of it all is that even the Freepers smelled scammy paranoia.
why would he suspect arrest? without that key piece of information, it doesn't seem right.., by chuck_the_tv_out

Why is HS bugging this guy about the BC issue? It is not a threat of bodily harm to Odumbo., by indylindy

    Arrested for what?, by mc5cents

Maybe we should wait to see if anything remotely like this happens first. Given that the birthers have yet to win a single court ruling, I can't see why anyone in power would bother with them. Recall that Clinton left Elian alone until he lost a court ruling., by dirtboy

I assume he means the Secret Service., by SandyInSeattle

Neighbors probably getting together and car pooling a bunch of kids to soccer games, thus you have the Suburbans and Uniforms., by mnehring

Time was, one could to pass this sort of stuff off as paranoia, self-importance, nonsense, media grabbing etc., by Oldpuppymax

Yeah, I'm not sure how he determined the persons inside were wearing camo, given how heavily tinted the windows are on government security SUVity SUVs., by dirtboy

Wow, when you can't even convince Freepers to suspect Obama of something nefarious, the word FAILURE comes to mind.

So Over the Top, You'll Expect Him to Break Out in Song!

Esquire Pidgeon will do great things for The Crumbling Coalition of Fanatical Fringe.  Imagine the support he'll rally for the cause by telling a Washington public that overwhelmingly supports domestic partnerships and marriage equality:

President Obama supports an enhanced version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act ("ENDA")...This means that erotic desires, fantasies, and spontaneous feelings toward, homosexuality, bisexuality, cybersex, incest, pedophilia, necrophilia, polygamy, bigamy, sodomy, bestiality, prostitution, fetishism, transvestitism, even arguably wife-beating, will become protected under federal law against discrimination in employment.

President Obama has further expressed his intent to expand "hate crimes legislations, which includes enacting "hate speech" laws...This law means that a person practicing homosexuality, bisexuality, cybersex, incest, pedophilia, necrophilia, polygamy, bigamy, sodomy, bestiality, prostitution, fetishism, transvestitism, even arguably wife-beating, will be able to bring a prosecution against a person who makes a phone call, sends a text message, makes a Facebook entry or a website post, sends an email or a letter/newsletter that in the eyes of the person offended is likely to expose them to hatred or contempt.

Yeah, he'll make a nice bridge to the average Washington voter.  Get that man a megaphone, please!!!

    And in Closing...

There's so much more to say about this curious man, but we'll close for now with this excerpt from Esquire Pidgeon's professional website.
