Combined Gay News Headlines (T5T-1)

It's sort of hard to say Adam Lambert — who's never really hidden his sexuality (and Idol judge Kara DioGuardi already told The View Lambert wasn't closeted) — will "come out," but that's the big plan for next week's Rolling Stone. The event will be significant, if only because celebrities usually come out on the [...]
They're calling it a "compromise," but the same-sex marriage bill New Hampshire's House and Senate agreed on today changes just one word and adds one sentence to the bill they previously passed and sent to Gov. John Lynch. (The Senate previously approved Lynch's changes to make religious protections more explicit, but the House managed to [...]
To say Beau Breedlove isn't reveling in his media fame would be an understatement. He's happily given interviews to the media. He stripped down for porn rag Unzipped. And he's happily told his story to anyone with an email address. So why is he suddenly running from the press? CONTINUED » Permalink | 3 comments | Add [...]
Not that I even promote the idea of marriage in an anachronistic gender-traditional values sense, it the idea of selective rights that is the issue here. Why you and not me? What makes your existence and freedom more significant than mine? Nothing. Dogma and a 6-1 vote. So, what now? We do what the “minority” [...]
This weekend, we fight for the right to marry. But the right to party has always been ours, and some would say we do it better than anyone. Here’s a list of the post-rally events sponsored by Meet In The Middle … (Click on the flyers to enlarge them) Friday Night The North Tower Circle will be featuring a [...]
Today is a day of firsts for me. This is my first official post for Queer Fresno. This is my very first true-blue blog post anywhere. This is also the first day of the most important battle I’ve ever been involved in. The battle for the civil rights ofghts of every gay, lesbian, transgender, and bisexual [...]

I just stumbled over a very interesting around Sotomayor's nomination: Top Republican calls Limbaugh, Gingrich comments 'terrible'. It's mainly about some GOP senate politicians getting somewhat freaked out by the comments angry old white men (Gingrich and Limbaugh) are making about Sotomayor and try to distance themselves from those comments.

Senate politician Cornyn - after distancing himself from Gingrich and Limbaugh - concludes with the following quote:

"We are all a product of our upbringing and who we are and I think it's a fact people do have different backgrounds, but I don't think those background ought to determine what the law is."

Now wait a second: "law should not be determined by upbringing". This is interesting! Isn't the whole anti-gay marriage industry sometimes explicitly and the rest of the times implicitly based on 'christian beliefs' and 'christian upbringing'? But why am I surprised, it's just another piece in the big bigotry puzzle ...

Consider this: Oregonian Gary Randall and his Washington operative Larry Stickney know from the outset that they're destined to FAIL their referenDUMB effort to repeal the new WA domestic partnership law.  And their natural allies know too, because they've said so many times, quite embarrassingly and publicly.

But they put up a brave front and forge on, sneakily asking donors almost daily to donate to funds that aren't dedicated to the referendum effort.

Then Larry waits until the last possible hour of the last possible day to challenge the ballot language of his own referendum.

And then today, without explanation, he cancels his own challenge to the language of his own referendum.  And it gets better.  Guess who Larry's lawyer was for the ballot language challenge disaster?  Stephen Pidgeon, the guy who thinks men in smokey-windowed SUVs are after him.  Well, good to know that Larry is wasting donor funds giving billable work to this outlier from the Crumbling Coalition of Fanatical Fringe.  And all for the glory of God nothing.

If I were in support of the referendum, I'd seriously wonder if these gentlemen were leading me down the garden path.  The kindest word for it is INCOMPETENT.

I'm curious to see if this campaign continues beyond the weekend.

I think it might be worth repeating The Words of Brother Pidgeon so that Washingtonians understand just how fringe the backers of this referendum are.

A right to be a right must have supernatural authority.

You introduce the concept of same-sex marriage or secular marriage, or any of the other rituals that have been formed by the state - and what you do is disestablish the godly order in favor of an order of death.

What a way to kick off the weekend -- an I'm not sh*tting you. The furries advocate in question was busted soliciting a sex encounter with a 15-year-old. (Lehigh Valley Live):
Pennsylvania authorities say a Cumberland County man suggested dressing up in animal costumes during online sex chats with a 15-year-old boy. Agents found wolf- and cat-type costumes in his home.

Alan David Berlin, a 40-year-old Carlisle, Pa., resident, also proposed visiting the boy's Harrisburg home and having sex in the back yard while his parents slept, according to a news release from the Attorney General's Office.

Berlin, who used the screen name "alan_panda_bear", requested nude photos of the boy and suggested they meet in a hotel room where a third person could photograph them having sex, the release says.

...Berlin, a longtime staffer for a Republican state lawmaker, is charged with unlawful contact with a minor, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Chris Hanson of Dateline's To Catch a Predator hasn't featured something like this yet. Of course the fact that this guy is a perv has nothing to do with his furry proclivities. The not-so underground universe of furries advocates was fwas featured in a memorable episode of CSI.

The whole episode can be seen here.

Of course, I'm sure not every furry conventioneer attends for sexual encounters. But for those who do, I need some help here -- I seriously don't understand this particular fetish. I mean those suits get hot, nasty and have to be impossible to clean thoroughly. I know of a couple of people who have been mascots and they said there's nothing remotely sexy about the stench inside.

Maybe someone from the furry world can explain how you sanitize those things enough to actually enjoy being in the costume for any length of time for that kind of activity.
