Yup... in my neck of the woods anyways.

In fact, there appears to be alot of these events happening in Maine.

Scratch that- they are going to be happening again NATIONWIDE.

Another Tea Party tax protest set for the Fourth in Augusta

On April 15, hundreds of Mainers gathered at Capitol Park on State Street in Augusta to voice opposition to the direction of our nation.

Maine Patriots and Paint Maine Red, both grass-roots organizations dedicated to defending our freedoms and preserving the Constitution, are co-sponsoring a similar event.

The upcoming Capitol Park July 4 event will begin at 2 p.m. Maine families can look forward to an afternoon which will include speeches focusing on the status of our Constitution in light of today's political climate, information tables, tea bags for politicians and pocket copies of the Constitution.

Private citizens as well as representatives from local organizations are expected to speak.

The day's events will conclude at 7 p.m. The event is free, but donations will be accepted to help defray the costs.

If you have concerns for your country, your freedoms, and your future and feel you are "Taxed Enough Already," we invite you to join fellow Maine citizens with similar concerns.

Oh boy...

I am not making this sh*t up...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A gun-toting Kentucky pastor says it's OK to bring weapons to church - at least for one day.

Ken Pagano asked his flock to bring their unloaded handguns - in holsters - to tm">New Bethel Church in Louisville for a celebration of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Consitution that guarantees the right to bear arms.

More than 200 people answered his call. There was just one rule for the several dozen who brought their guns along: No bullets.

"We are wanting to send a message that there are legal, civil, intelligent and law-abiding citizens who also own guns," Pagano said during the 90-minute event, which was open to the public. "If it were not for a deep-seated belief in the right to bear arms, this country would not be here today," he told the crowd, drawing hearty applause and exclamations of "Amen!"

The "Open Carry Celebration" included a handgun raffle, patriotic music and screening of gun safety videos. Some gun owners carried old-fashioned six-shooters in leather holsters, while others packed modern police-style firearms. Kentucky allows residents to openly carry guns in public with some restrictions.

Pagano's Protestant church, which attracts up to 150 people to Sunday services in a conservative neighborhood of southwest Louisville, belongs to the Assemblies of God. He thought up the event after some church members expressed concern about members of President Barack Obama administration's views on gun control, though the president hasn't moved to put new restrictions on ownership.

Pagano's event also troubled his church's longtime insurance carrier, which declined to insure the event and informed him it won't renew the policy.

Ah, Charlton Heston would be so proud...

No comment yet from the NRA-- but you can be sure conservatives are gonna eat this one up.

Gee, Eliot Spitzer stepped aside; so did Jim McGreevey. Guess Mark Sanford felt enough tears, piety and writing a couple of checks would get him back in the good graces of Palmetto State citizens. Hey, once a scandal-ridden pol invokes God or Jesus in the Bible Belt states, where homophobia and heterosupremacy know no bounds, it gives hypocrites like Sanford a pass. Look at David Vitter. (AP):
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford considered resigning from office after his extramarital affair came to light, the Republican revealed Sunday in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press.

But Sanford, who hasn't spoken publicly since Friday, said he spoke with close spiritual and political associates who advised him to fight to restore the public's - and his family's - trust in him.

...Sanford repeatedly said he did not use public money for the trip, so it was not clear why he has agreed to reimburse the state for some of the more-than $8,000 in taxpayer money spent on the Argentina leg of an economic development trip to South America last year.

Uh, going AWOL as governor alone should be grounds for him to resign, let alone spending state funds on priming the pecker. What exactly is Sanford reimbursing if it isn't state or public funds?

Stonewall Anniversary Poem

by Governor Barbara Roberts

From Stonewall to Salem, Across this whole nation We've marched and we've lobbied, Forty years in duration. For fairness, equality For dignity and rights For safety, and partners To turn on the lights. To come out of the darkness, Emerge from the closet, To rise above hatred And the bigots who cause it. The path has been long With hurdles and roadblocks But the future looks bright With adoptions and wedlocks. So on this eve of Stonewall We celebrate gains We stand shoulder to shoulder For the work that remains. We thank all who have given, Taken risks, led the way Lesbian, Trans, Bi, Straight and Gay. So - lift up your glasses And your hearts - one and all As we toast our martyrs and heroes And the brave souls of Stonewall.

ENDA is being introduced tomorrow in the house! Our next step is to call Rep. Walden and ask him to be a cosponsor of ENDA. Below is a script to use. It is essential that we flood his lines to let him know how many of his constituents support ENDA! Once you've called, let me know what the staffer said and then ask all of your friends and family in the district to call as well!

Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and have them connect you to your Representative (based on your zip code). Tell them:

"I am a constituent and I would like you to please tell Representative _______ that I would like him/her to become a cosponsor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. ENDA would ban discrimination against all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the workplace. Can you tell me whether or not Representative _______ has cosponsored the bill?"
